Chef Therese Nelson is a NYC based private chef and caterer trained at Johnson and Wales University, with over 15 years of experience providing her services to private clients as well as brands like BET, MTV, Roc Nation, Carol’s Daughter and American Express. In addition to her culinary work Therese is a writer and the founder of the website and social networking space BlackCulinaryHistory.com which is devoted to preserving and highlighting the legacy of black chefs across the African diaspora. Therese is a frequent commentator on issues around culinary history and identity for media spaces like the NYTimes, Heritage Radio, Eater and TASTE, as well as a public speaker invited to share her work at conferences and festivals like Harvard’s Black Arts Festival, NY Fancy Food Show, and the Baltimore’s Light City Festival.
